Harvard Art Museums

Project Description
Cambridge, MA, USA

This renovation and expansion project allowed Harvard University's three art museums, the Fogg, the Busch-Reisinger, and the Arthur M. Sackler, to be consolidated.  The new facility feature a glazed rooftop pyramid structure bridging historic and modern architectural design elements.  A full height central atrium distributes natural light throughout while specialty interior and exterior tension skylight shades as well as diffusing and blackout roller shades provide UV protection for art exhibits and glare control for the occupants.  Software interfaces include custom dashboards, floorplan views, and web apps providing control from local devices as well as smartphones and tablets.  Embedia's BACnet shade controllers are fully integrated with the museum's building management system (BMS) and AV systems to facilitate operation and maintenance of the building.
